2025 NASCAR Pit Crew Challenge, presented by Mechanix Wear
The Pit Crew Challenge, presented by Mechanix Wear, is more than a competition; it's a celebration of the unsung heroes of NASCAR. These athletes, often former football players or wrestlers, train rigorously to execute lightning-fast pit stops that can make or break a race. Their performance is a testament to the critical role pit crews play in the sport's success.
Michael McDowell’s No. 71 Spire Motorsports crew clinched victory at the 2025 NASCAR Pit Crew Challenge, held on May 16 at North Wilkesboro Speedway. Clocking a blistering 12.587-second stop, the team outpaced 37 other crews to secure the $100,000 prize and the prestigious Mechanix Wear Pit Crew Challenge trophy.
The No. 71 crew features Brandon Chapman (fueler), Dax Hollifield III (jackman), Luke Bussel (tire carrier), Max Marsh (front changer), and Ty Boeck (rear changer). Collectively they delivered a flawless performance and delivered a time that edged out Trackhouse Racing’s No. 99 crew (12.600 seconds) and Front Row Motorsports’ No. 4 crew (12.669 seconds), underscoring the razor-thin margins that define elite pit work.
Remarkably, the No. 71 team entered the day ranked 32nd among all teams, making their victory a true underdog story. Their success not only earned them a substantial monetary reward but also the first choice of pit stall for the All-Star Open, providing a strategic advantage for the race.
