Los Angeles, CA. (February 7, 2015) – Monster Energy Supercross salutes America’s Armed Forces with the return of the Military Appreciation Race at San Diego’s PETCO Park on Saturday, February 7th. In honor of our Armed Forces, Mechanix Wear will be donating military-themed pit boards autographed by factory teams and riders to the Operation Homefront charity auction following the race. Operation Homefront is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides assistance to service members and their families with a focus on wounded veterans who served on or after 9/11.

Last year’s Military Appreciation Race received full support throughout the industry with military themed riding gear and bike graphics. In addition to the pledge of support from Feld Motor Sports, the Military Appreciation Race will host a charity auction following the race, featuring the gear worn by the riders during competition. Last year, Ryan Villopoto, Ryan Dungey, James Stewart, Ken Roczen and more donated their race-worn gear, raising over $25,000 for Operation Homefront.
This year, Mechanix Wear factory race mechanics will be wearing our classic Original® glove with MultiCam® camouflage in the pits and wielding MultiCam pit boards on the sidelines. Following the race, factory teams and riders will autograph the race pit boards to be auctioned off by Operation Homefront to support our troops.
“It is great to be working again with Feld Motor Sports and Monster Energy Supercross this year,” said Jack Chirrick, executive director of Operation Homefront – California. “Last year, Feld Motor Sports helped raise more than $50,000, which provided much-needed emergency assistance to military families and wounded veterans. We anticipate that the needs of our military community will grow in the upcoming year, and partnerships like these are a vital part of ensuring we are there to assist our military families and wounded veterans when they cannot cover basic necessities like food and rent.”
