Hands have always required protection for specific jobs and
working conditions. Although these jobs and environments varied,
the gloves usually did not. Bulky, one-size-fits-all gloves
were often the only gloves available to protect hands performing
a variety of tasks. Over ten years ago, a small group of intuitive
minds dared to ask the question – is a glove just a
glove? Taking into consideration factors such as years of
success in creating protective apparel for motocross, innovative
materials, varying hand sizes, scope of the work involved,
extremity of the environment, and even just plain, simple
comfort, the group went to the drawing board…and the
first specific mechanic’s gloves were born.
Gloves that withstand even the harshest
environments
Seeing the need and demand for such working gloves, the group
took their prototype and began a company - Mechanix Wear.
Inspired by a background in motorcycle racing, the group created
the original Mechanix Wear gloves for individuals involved
in the motorsports industry. Motorcycle mechanics, automotive
technicians, and race team pit crew members all required specific
glove features to perform their necessary tasks while being
exposed to varying and often harsh, dangerous conditions.
To this day, racing remains a critical testing ground for
the design and development of Mechanix Wear gloves. Glove
engineers use the extreme environments found in racing to
provide valuable feedback concerning the performance of new
designs. Only after many hours of testing and real-life racing
usage are the gloves then sold to the retail customer.
Mechanix Wear identifies a new consumer
market
Grounded by the simply philosophy of creating highest quality
job-specific gloves for all hand sizes, Mechanix Wear identified
and developed a whole new category of hand protection for
the everyday mechanic. Now, every individual would have the
option of purchasing a well-fitted, job-specific glove. Since
the company’s inception in 1992, it has maintained constant
growth due to its expanding and diversified product line.
What started as a revolutionary concept of a single glove-design
quickly evolved into a comprehensive consumer-based line of

The official glove of NASCAR
Staying true to its racing beginnings, Mechanix Wear has maintained

GM Goodwrench Team during the 1992 Daytona 500. Since then,
